GEMS WIN BIG IN WINTERY MUSIC CITY
Gina’s Gems recently attended, Nashtwirl, a USTA Twirling competition in Nashville, Tennessee, where they brought home over 75 awards. This two-day event brought twirlers from over 19 states to Music City. The Gems rolled into the event and were beyond prepared to out twirl their competitors as they brought home awards in solo, strut, 2-baton, 3-baton, and team twirling. Cambree Armfield led the Gems as their top competitor, winning the coveted Nashtwirl Twirl-Off for the 0-9 division. Isabel Williams, Ellie Greene, Lana Edwards, and Madelyn Long captured title events in their respective age divisions and competitive levels. That brought the Gems’ overall total medal count to 75 for the 15 gem competitors at this event.
In contrast to their welcomed weekend wins, eight twirlers and their families are still snowed in. With winter storms blanketing the greater Nashville area, flights are canceled, and the Gems’ hotel rooms play host to a sight of controlled chaos. Gems twirlers, some of whom had never seen snow, created snow angels and instigated snowball fights with their teammates on the hotel's grounds. Team bonding has never been so fun.
